Reading U18s Deliver Heartbreak & Hilarity …
The Liverpool U18s have taken a rather comedic exit from the U18 Premier League Cup, tripping over their own cleats with a 3-0 loss to Reading. Despite including Rio Ngumoha in the mix, the Reds failed to get their footing on the pitch, leading to an afternoon that’s better forgotten over takeout and a cozy couch.
The start was as action-packed as a snail race, with Reading only mildly threatening the woodwork early on. Ngumoha attempted some fancy footwork but ended up sending the ball off to astronomy class instead of the net. Meanwhile, Joe Bradshaw and Josh Sonnie-Lambie were more like spectators on the pitch, practically invisible with chances hard to come by. In a twist as unexpected as a soggy biscuit, George Booth popped a goal in through deflections and Emmanuel Osho doubled Reading’s lead with a beautiful strike.
Rio Ngumoha, now mastering the art of hiding in plain sight, was outshone by Alvin Ayman — another Anfield hopeful. Although Ayman’s spark fizzled out in the second half, it’d be wrong not to mention the chaos Amara Nallo caused, handing extra fun to Reading via a bonus penalty, nicely tucked away by Kiyan Coke-Miles-Smith. Liverpool’s dramatic five-game losing streak extends, as Reading gleefully packs their bags for a final against West Ham. Sounds more exciting than a llama in pajamas!
