Ferdinand Faces Off with Furious Fans…

In the land of football spats, it appears Rio Ferdinand is happy to ruffle a few feathers. The former Man United legend decided it’s time to double down and stand firm by his belief that poor Liverpool defender, Ibrahima Konate, should have been shown red against PSG. While working his commentary magic for TNT Sports, Rio suggested Konate’s gentle arm nudge should’ve seen him packing his bags early.

To the shock and horror of Liverpool fans, the referee seemed to have a different opinion, with the VAR fairy godmothers agreeing there was no spell strong enough to change the call. But Ferdinand, ever the advocate for red cards, was relentless on social media: “Konate should’ve been sent off,” he tweeted with glee, causing more digital groans from the Anfield army.

Meanwhile, Konate, exercising his right to a post-match chat, assured everyone his “strong” arm was simply misunderstood. Call it naturally charming, if you will. But to PSG’s sporting director Luis Campos, it was a red mist equivalent. Adding to the comedic screenplay, some quipped Ferdinand’s commentary would have served better on “Mute” mode, proving once again, silence can be golden!
