Newcastle Sells Isak to Liverpool…
In a move that cost Liverpool a wallet the size of a small planet, they agreed to fork over a star-sized $176 million to nab Alexander Isak from Newcastle. Initially, the Magpies had played harder to get than a cat faced with a cucumber, rejecting an earlier $150 million offer from the Reds. But finally, Liverpool met Newcastle’s lofty valuation, prompting the green light for the Swede to head over to Anfield. Before officially donning the red, Isak will have a medical on Monday — probably to ensure his feet aren’t pure gold.
In an amusing twist, Brentford wanted to burden their Yoane Wissa with an $88 million dollar sign for Newcastle to potentially use as a stand-in for Isak. However, this didn’t quite have the flavor Newcastle was looking for, like offering a garden hose to someone holding a fire extinguisher. All eyes now remain on Anfield as Isak prepares to make an entry as grand as a Viking sailing on the Mersey River, officially joining Liverpool’s ranks.
