Liverpool Fans Gasp as Alisson Meets Sanchez’s Noggin…
In a scene that could have been plucked straight from a football comedy, Brazil’s goalie Alisson found himself in the wrong kind of head-to-head with ex-Spurs defender Davison Sanchez during Brazil’s 2-1 victory over Colombia. The collision between the two was so fierce that even football’s toughest fans winced in their armchairs. Though Alisson’s noggin was knocked, Brazil’s team doc, Rodrigo Lasmar, stepped in with some reassuring yet cryptic updates about the keeper’s condition.
Alisson, suspected of having a concussion (but don’t worry, “everything is normal”), will undergo a variety of tests including a CT scan and a “diffusion MRI” (which sounds sci-fi enough to thrill any football fan). After memory tests, Alisson revealed he was feeling “a tad slower” – but aren’t we all on a Friday night? The Liverpool faithful will hope he’s back to headbutting the opposition on the pitch soon, just not literally.
The timing couldn’t be worse, with Ibrahima Konate also joining the injury conga line after France’s match against Croatia. For Liverpool and its supporters, watching internationals has become less about the goals and more about which player survives. Here’s hoping Alisson can head back into action against Everton come April – sans further bumping into heads!
