Jamie Carragher is stirring the transfer pot yet again, this time by predicting a heated showdown between Liverpool and Arsenal over Newcastle United’s star striker, Alexander Isak. Apparently, if Isak decides to swan dive out of the Magpies’ nest this summer, Liverpool might have the upper wing—provided they dance their way into the Champions League spotlight.
With the Swedish sensation scoring more than the local bake sale (19 times in the Premier League to be exact), Carragher is convinced that Arsenal and Liverpool are both waiting eagerly, with pens poised, should Champions League dreams for Newcastle not soar as high. Isak is gunning for glory with 23 goals, trailing behind only Salah and Haaland. However, if the black and white stripes secure that coveted Champions League, Carragher believes Isak might just stick around to enjoy more of those post-match hugs and the sweet carousel of silverware.
Though both Arsenal and Liverpool might already be eyeing Isak’s jersey like it’s the last slice of grandma’s famous pie, Carragher points out that Newcastle’s negotiating hand is a full house. They might just hold on to Isak for another year, letting fans enjoy the Isak magic show for a little while longer. Who knows, maybe next season we’ll be reading about Isak’s extension party instead of his leaving bash!
