U21s Face Setback, U18s Shine Bright…

The new football season is like a box of chocolates for Liverpool’s Academy teams—delicious highs and gut-pounding lows! On one hand, the U18 team kicked off with this smashing 5-1 victory over Stoke City. Meanwhile, the U21s endured a 4-2 defeat at Leicester City. Former Wales manager Rob Page might have felt like he was watching a soap opera! Jayden Danns scored for the U21 team, sparking hope of a comeback that’s akin to finding a mirage in a desert; unfortunately, Leicester’s double act of Golding and Opoku kept the mirage as dry as ever.

Simultaneously, the U18s were having a blast under new head coach Simon Wiles, starring Joe Bradshaw, who seems to have a penchant for twirling goals out of thin air. Imagine the Stoke goalkeeper’s horror as Josh Sonni-Lambie’s halfway-line strike soared over his head; it was more dramatic than a squirrel on a pogo stick! Finn Inglethorpe joined the fun with an instant goal, while Sanchez Phillips accidentally rounded off the score with a well-meaning own goal. Next up, the U21s face Burnley, while the U18s will try to conquer the Clarets soon!
