Liverpool Waves Goodbye to Coaching Maestro…

In the wacky world of football, Liverpool’s Kirkby Academy is undergoing a makeover so dramatic even a soap opera would blush! They’ve bade a melancholy adieu to their coaching wizard Barry Lewtas, who has been sprinkling pixie dust on youngsters since the dawn of time—well, 12 years at least! Known for raising football fledglings like Conor Bradley, Lewtas has left quite the legacy, almost like a footballing Gandalf waving his wand one last time.

It’s a summer of goodbyes at the Academy, with young talent guru Marc Bridge-Wilkinson also jumping ship. But Lewtas and his Under-18s are best remembered for slaying the giant, aka Manchester City, in an epic FA Youth Cup triumph that even David would applaud! He has fans, players, and probably even the Academy’s resident pigeon, all sobbing into their scarves. The U21s, meanwhile, finished 16th this season, a rollercoaster rank amidst the pandemonium of young talents like James McConnell hopping aboard the first-team train.

Wishing him adieu, Academy overlord Alex Inglethorpe hailed Lewtas’ legendary tenure, claiming many fledgling stars owe him big time. It’s clear Lewtas’ time at the Academy was the stuff of legends—now he’s off for a well-earned respite, set to become Liverpool’s cheeriest fan! Fare thee well, Barry, your coaching capes will be missed, but the next chapter awaits!
