Alisson and Elliott – Liverpool’s Dynamic Duo!…
PARC DES PRINCES, PARIS // Liverpool got their thieving gloves on as Harvey Elliott pulled a late rabbit out of the hat to bag a surprise 1-0 win over PSG. Despite the French side’s best efforts to declare Paris their playground, Alisson Becker was busier than a squirrel in autumn, pulling off a masterclass in defying gravity to keep the Reds alive. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia almost slipped past the goalposts, but VAR did its party-pooper act.
With PSG firing at all cylinders like they’re on a roller coaster at top speed, Alisson was the only one standing cool as a cucumber, with hands glue-stuck to every ball. Just when it seemed PSG had Liverpool cornered, Arne Slot sent Harvey Elliott charging into the fray. Cue his magical 47-second cameo – Elliott swooped in like a seagull on chips to tap in the winner.
Meanwhile, in the land of injured Gakpo dreams, Jota and pals tried their feet at a game of keep-away but didn’t get the memo. Lucky for Liverpool, next week’s sequel at Anfield should be a cracker. PSG will be licking their wounds, knowing they dominated but somehow left the keys to the kingdom with Alisson and Elliott.
