Luis Suarez found himself in hot water after he tested out his llama impression by spitting at a Seattle Sounders coach following Inter Miami’s 3-0 loss in the Leagues Cup final. After the match, a quarrel broke out and Suarez was spotted giving Sounders midfielder Obed Vargas an unsolicited neck massage before the infamous spit landed. Suarez has since taken to Instagram, not to showcase cat videos, but to issue a heartfelt apology to the Sounders, admitting his wrongdoings.
In his apology, Suarez saluted the Seattle Sounders for their victory but admitted his conduct was less savory than a soggy sandwich. He acknowledged the tension that’s more common on reality TV than a soccer field, stating he regretted his reaction, which wasn’t even close to winning an Oscar. Inter Miami coach Javier Mascherano suggested the players might have been provoked, probably by a mosquito attack, but refrained from elaborating.
