Guehi Considers Stepping Down as Captain…
Marc Guehi is feeling like a seagull who took a detour off a cliff as he eyes giving up the Crystal Palace captaincy. His dream move to Liverpool was crushed like a stale popcorn kernel on deadline day. Palace had almost waved him goodbye before suddenly saying “psych!” just seconds before the clock struck transfer midnight. Palace’s coach, Oliver Glasner, feared he’d have to moonwalk out of Selhurst Park if Guehi was sold with no fresh superhero in sight to replace him.
Though he’s not refusing to don his boots for Palace, Guehi’s annoyance could power a small city. He’s expected to issue an official statement soon about the roller-coaster ride of a transfer saga. Even though he might be free to roam the football wilderness next summer, Liverpool is hardly his only admirer. Barcelona, Bayern Munich, and Juventus are already revving up their luxurious welcome wagons. For now, Guehi stays at Palace, leaving fans and coaches biting their nails faster than a jackhammer in action.
