Van Dijk’s Siesta Costs Liverpool Against PSG…
Wayne Rooney has decided it’s time to hand out some sleepyhead awards, pointing a big finger at Liverpool’s Virgil van Dijk for snoozing as PSG slid one in. After a triumphant 1-0 in the first round, the Reds found themselves one down in their own backyard. Ousmane Dembele, faster than your morning alarm, teamed up with Bradley Barcola, making them look like a dynamic dance duo. Despite Alisson’s superhero dash and some pressing by Konate and Szoboszlai, Dembele waltzed in for the score, causing Rooney’s head-shaking marathon.
Speaking through Amazon Prime like a footballing oracle, Rooney didn’t hold back, “Van Dijk’s taking a stroll in the wrong park. Dembele’s picking his picnic spot and scoring goals while our hero takes a walk. Come on, get a clue!” Meanwhile, Daniel Sturridge, like a wise old football owl, hooted about the Reds’ defense needing to chit-chat a bit more. As Dembele stood as the class monitor, Sturridge praised him for his focus.
After the goal, both teams played the rest of the game like they were avoiding early bedtime, with no extra goals when it mattered. Meanwhile, Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold tried an awkward sideline ballet move and got subbed off. Now, Liverpool’s dreaming of having him ready for the Carabao Cup final curtain call.
